How to use Power Management Feature:

The power management features enables you to control the power state of the machine in your organization.

The primary reasons to use power management are :

  • Prepare your machine for maintenance task
  • Reduce Power consumption and noise.
  • Reduce Operating costs.
  • Prolong battery life.

The power management command can be initiated from either machine view or scan view.

Use the right click menu to view the power management option, you can right click on domains then machine groups then machines

We can immediately shutdown, restart or wake up machines

We can also schedule the power task using the power state template

To restart the machine

The Operation monitor is used to check the status

Here we can see the machine is successfully restarted

If you want to schedule the shutdown or restart , we will use the power management template

Go to machine group then Template then Sample shutdown templete.

This template is particularly used for shutdown

And to use that sample shutdown power template and we use it from the machine group

In this example we have two machines in the group

After creating group click on run operation

Now select the shutdown template

Now select the schedule options like we want it to be shutdown at 10:00 PM

Here is the status of two new scheduled shutdown task

For example: we might wake up our machine in the maintainance window , so that they can receive critical security updates

We can schedule the wake up when ever we want

We have scheduled at 7:30AM
